John Paul II's SRC Team planned a week of activities for students and staff to celebrate the May long weekend.

The week of activities also built towards World Catholic Education Day, which took place May 17.

The fun began May 14, and students were invited to get their faces painted in the home economics room. The face painters then made their way around the school to paint teachers' faces, and also persuaded some other students to get their faces painted. A fair number of students were walking around with their faces painted that afternoon.

May 15, the SRC held a barbecue for students and staff in the school parking lot. Afterwards, students were invited to bring their cars into the parking lot for the JPII Annual Car Show. There were multiple categories for vehicles, such as Dirtiest Car, or Most People that Can Fit into a Car.

May 16, John Paul II's cheer team sold Booster Juice over the lunch hour, and the SRC held their annual slip and slide in the soccer field. The SRC set up a giant sheet of plastic, covered it in dish soap and had a fire truck come and spray the sheet with water.

John Paul II students and staff were invited to get into swim gear and slide across the slip and slide. Everyone who participated had a fantastic time, and will surely remember the unique experience.

May 17, students participated in World Catholic Education Day at the Civic Center, along with therest of the schools in the Light Of Christ Catholic School Division. Throughout the week, students had been preparing for this day by saying a special prayer with their first period class every day.

Students and staff walked to the Civic Center and attended a mass in the morning. After the mass, John Paul II students and staff, as well as Grade 7 students from other schools headed to John Paul II's gym to listen to Michael Chiasson's inspiring presentation, which included live music.

The students were treated to a day off of school May 18.
