SADD changes lives

Choosing to drive while intoxicated is a decision that could ruin your life, or the lives of others. John Paul II's SADD group works to raise awareness of the issue.

Choosing to drive while intoxicated is a decision that could ruin your life, or the lives of others.

John Paul II's SADD group works to raise awareness of the issue. While some of the students don't have a licence, the group still raises awareness for them. Although they do not have a driver's licence, they still may be faced with the choice of getting in a car with an intoxicated driver.

SADD stands for students against drinking and driving. SADD organizes multiple activities to get the message of not driving while intoxicated around the school. Every month SADD holds an activity for students to participate in, that raises awareness of drunk driving. Some of the activities they've organized include a basketball shootout, a haunted house and a bake sale. The group also ties white ribbons to car antennas to encourage sober driving throughout the holiday season.

"I'm so proud of the kids in the SADD Group here at John Paul II. They're so enthusiastic and passionate," said Melissa Fuhr, the teacher in charge of SADD. "

It's amazing to be a part of a group like this."

Being part of a group that sends such a strong message is an amazing experience, and the group truly changes the lives of everyone in the school.
