Sask. artists take home six Aboriginal Music Awards

The 13th Annual Aboriginal Music Awards have been held in Toronto and Saskatchewan artists have won six awards.

Donny Parenteau, from Prince Albert, won five awards - Best Country Album for To Whom It May Concern, best producer/engineer, shared with Harry Stinson, Best Music Video and Best Songwriter for My Girl, and Best Male Artist. He was also nominated for Best Album of the Year and Best Song Single, but did not win.

Leoville's Jason Chamakese also took home an award in the Best Traditional Flute category for his latest album, Native American Flute Songs Vol. 2.

The 13th Annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards were held in conjunction with the Canadian Aboriginal Festival in Toronto, and awards were given out on Nov. 18.
