Seeding is in full swing. Lately it has been the good neighbor policy - one farmer sows a crop and the wind blows it to the neighbour's field. It will be interesting sorting it all out in harvest time! Everything is greening up and we have heard the sound of the rototillers. Soon we will hear the purr of lawn mowers. Do they sound much different than snowblowers? I guess we will see.
Judy Kennedy is once again operating the concession at Meeting Lake Regional Park. She began her season with her annual Mother's Day supper in the round hall. The supper was very good and a good sized crowd came to enjoy it.
The ice is off of the lake and some of the campers and cottages have moved in. It seems like no time ago that we were turning off the water and saying goodbye to the neighbours.
The annual general meeting of the Meeting Lake Regional Park will be held June 22 at 7 p.m. in the round hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The park opens May long weekend and seasonal or day pass rates go into effect. Just a reminder that Meeting Lake Regional Park has an alcohol ban in place for the May long weekend. Parties not obeying the alcohol ban will be evicted from the park.
Long-time resident of Rose Gill Lodge, Helen Marsden has relocated to a facility in Dalmeny. We wish Helen happiness in her new home. New to Rose Gill Lodge is Veena Robinson of Kelliher. We welcome Veena to Rabbit Lake.
A lot of work has been done at Rose Gill to freshen some rooms up. Several rooms have been repainted and some have had new floor covering installed.
It is always a pleasant occurrence when new babies are born. Over the last short while two former Rabbit Lake residents have had additions to their families. Tony and Kristine Seigel had a baby boy April 23. His name is Jason and he weighed in at six pounds, 11 ounces. Jason is a grandson for Dave and Margaret Seigel and a great-grandson for Ruth Hepp. Congratulations to Tony and Kristine! Also a baby boy was born to Dale and Kathy Clarkson of Lloydminster May 4. Donavon Jacob Clarkson weighed in at three pounds and was 16 inches tall. Donavon is a grandson to George and Mary Clarkson. Congratulations to Dale and Kathy!
Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Church is pleased to announce a new pastor has been hired for the Glenbush, Rabbit Lake and Mayfair congregations. The new pastor is Chad Doell who originates from Hague. Chad will begin work in this area May 15. Welcome to the Northwest, Chad!
With the help of Shelly, we have managed to get the garden in earlier this year than ever before. Although we did get over a half an inch of rain on the weekend, the ground is not really all that wet. It seems like it is too early to be stringing out garden hoses and sprinklers. How about if we hold off until the last of the crop is in and then we get a good soaker?
