The King drops by to entertain

"Pretty" is the word that best describes the first floor of our building. Red, pink and white Valentine decorations provided a cheerful setting for our party held Feb. 12. Fun prevailed over our choice of pool or shuffleboard mini-tournaments.

Feb. 13, was quite cold, so we spent a comfortable afternoon indoors listening to the songs of "Essence of Elvis." Jeff Bodnar, as Elvis, entertained us with his clever impersonation of the King as he presented the songs of the past, those taken from movies and special requests for old favourites. It was pleasant to rekindle old memories of the 1960s and '70s.

January and February birthdays were combined in one celebration Feb. 16. The Four Gents provided music for dancing and listening. Delicious cakes were made and donated by Helen Munn's family and served with ice cream. Happy birthday to Winnie Ham, Helen Munn, Lise Watch, Phyllis Maloney, Myrtle Simard and Allan Cusitor in January. Those celebrating birthdays in February are Eva Stevenot, Kay Peters, Amelie Murray, Ann Prongua, Bill Miller, Heather Euski, Bill Pack, Sydney Pack, Rene Gagne, Eugene Ewanowich, Michael Jakeman, Yvonne Hanson and Anne Johnson.

Dorreen Svare is the newly elected president of our executive. She has been for some years and still is the social convener of our special events. She helps decorate and organize things such as the ladies' pool tournament held Feb. 19. Six teams took part. Winning the A side were Lise Watch and Dixie Kuhn. On the B side were Madeleine Blouin and Phyllis Maloney. All had fun.

It is good to see Marie German home after a hospital stay. May she continue to recuperate.
