The Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival Committee thanks all the children and youth who submitted beautiful creative image ideas for the Battlefords Music Festival program cover contest.

The Maidstone Museum members and invited guests held their annual Christmas party at the seniors' centre Jan. 21. The evening started with a delicious potluck supper and the blessing given by president Bill McGilvery.

During the history of North Battleford, many citizens have made wonderful contributions to the city - in business, education, and spiritual life. They have helped the sick, the aged, the unfortunate and underprivileged.

Hi there! Brrr. It's so cold today. As I am writing my report out on Jan. 29, it is -39 C with the wind chill. Besides the very cold weather, we have to contend with such a large amount of snow.

It can be said that neither snow nor extreme cold affects the productivity of a quilter, since this is largely an indoor pursuit.

Kaiser was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Jan. 14. High went to Jean Hartman and low to Lil McMillan. Lil supplied the lunch. Bingo was played Jan. 16 with a good turnout. Volunteer callers were Dorothy Schwartz and Bev Stewart.

The Battlefords have the distinct honour of unveiling the Saskatchewan Arts Board's 65th anniversary touring exhibition entitled Creative Play. It will be on display at the Chapel Gallery Feb. 6 to March 7.

Michael Lorsch and Tania Cheng came from Toronto to McKitrick Community School to offer Grade 4-8 students education about global food security through the PotashCorp Food Security Speaking Tour.

There's a new church in town and a little different than most other churches. "At the Battlefords Cowboy Church we are aboutfellowship and worshiping the Lord, but we do it in a more relaxed and casual manner," says local member Ray Cox.

July 2, 2012: Community gathered to celebrate the 100th annual Minnehaha Picnic. Festivities were held at the site of the original Minnehaha School, on the hill west of Jackfish Creek. Over 100 signed the guest book.
