In the Community

The winners of the Marsden and Neilburg Remembrance Day poster, poetry and essay competitions were announced Nov. 11 at the ceremonies held in the Neilburg Community Hall. Certificates were handed out to the creative artists who were in attendance.

Santa arrived on Main St. in Radisson riding a snowmobile, for the annual Santa Claus Day Dec. 8. The Radisson volunteer firemen were busy handing out bags of candies to the many children who came to visit Santa.

Do you have your decorations up? A drive around town is a great way to get you in the Christmas spirit as there are many residents who have decorated their homes.

Interested ratepayers of the RM of Glenside met at the Baljennie Community Centre for an information meeting on recent happenings within the municipality. There was a good turnout present.

Though there is no shortage of Christmas concerts this season, one upcoming concert distinguishes itself as one of the most diverse.

I am not sure how you feel about the holidays, but I love them. Some people hate the hustle and bustle; complain about the weather and the line ups or just the commercialization of the whole season.

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly," so says the refrain from a well known Christmas carol. The members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild would like to add, "and quilted items, too" to brighten the festive season.

North Battleford's first decade was characterized by phenomenal development, explosive growth and rapid progress on every front. Village status was conferred on the community on March 21, 1906. Four months later, the village became a town.

Hi there! Brrr, it's been really cold in Novmeber, especially those winds. And where did the sun go? We certainly didn't have many sunny days. Oh well, we'll just hope for better weather in December. November was a busy month in Tower II.

A few Battlefords Art Club members made their way through the excess snow Tuesday to work on various art projects. Some were finishing the panels of heritage buildings for the North Battleford centennial committee.
