For two nights, Dec. 11 and 12, students of Turtleford Community School entertained and fed the community with theatre and dessert. In keeping with the times, the students began the evening with an exciting dance number entitled Foot Loose.

Projects stitched together in November

The December meeting of the River's Edge Quilters was attended by only 15 members. December is a busy month for members, so no classes were scheduled. Four classes were hosted in November and all were well attended.

Bright smiles and friendly faces adorned the Speers Recreation Center Dec. 10 as the community hosted their annual Christmas party for the children. The evening was free of charge.

There are quite a few times in our lives that we see or attend something and our response afterwards is "that will be a hard act to follow." Well the Christmas concert that was held in Meota Dec. 4 was one of those cases.

Auxiliary notes

The Maidstone Legion Ladies' Auxiliary enjoyed a Christmas supper and gift draw Dec. 6. Chinese food from Sonny's was shared. Nov. 26, the Legion ladies held a Kaiser and cribbage tournament in the afternoon.

Basketball season hits the courts

We kicked off December right in Maidstone High School. Basketball season is in full swing. The senior boys and senior girls have both hosted two games. The boys have played good games, but lost against tough teams.

Christmas displays light up village

More and more Christmas lights are seen to adorn the homes in the village. The Waseca Recreation Board and the village council jointly judge the decorations and will be making presentations to the winners.
