4-H members compete at regionals

District No. 33 hosted the North West Regional 4-H public speaking competition in Canwood March 29. Entered were 35 talented and brave speakers talking on a wide variety of topics.

District No. 33 hosted the North West Regional 4-H public speaking competition in Canwood March 29.

Entered were 35 talented and brave speakers talking on a wide variety of topics. Some made you laugh, some made you think and some taught you something. These competitors advanced for club and district competitions.

The first and second place winners from each age group move on to the provincial competition April 11 in Swift Current.

There were three judges for each age group. All speakers received a certificate with the top three receiving medals.

The Cloverbud winner was Taylor Reid from Crown Hill Club with second to Sadie Robb of Cut Knife 4-H Club and in third was Breann Thiessen of Kerrobert Multiple Club.

In junior, first was Sara Edwards of Parkdale Multiple Club, second Faith Chibri of Lashburn 4-H Beef and third Darby Myer of Kerrobert Multiple Club.

First in Intermediate was Rayna Yasieniuk of Reigning Riders Light Horse. Second was Atlanta Wagmann of Goodsoil 4-H Club and third was Tiegan Kowerchuk of Webster Sunset Rangers.

Mathew Holba of Pierceland Beef topped the seniors’ category. Second was Megan Schwark of Handel Multiple Club and third Amy Carruthers of Paradise Hill Multiple Club. Good luck to all moving on to provincials.
