A 60-year-old man walking along Humboldt's 9th Avenue was deliberately hit by a door of a moving vehicle.

At around 7:30 pm on Nov. 13, a vehicle described as an older model, two-door, dark coloured half-ton truck crossed the centre line of the street and went into the opposing lane, veering towards the pedestrian.

“When they got close to the pedestrian, the driver door opened and actually struck the pedestrian, causing minor injuries,” said Cst. Geoff Applegate of the Humboldt RCMP.

The pedestrian didn’t seek medical attention immediately after the event.

The police are still investigating and are asking for the public’s help. Those with any information are asked to contact Humboldt RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

There’s no description of the driver. It’s not known if there were any passengers.

“We don’t know the intentions of the person or people that were in the vehicle, but obviously it’s a very dangerous occurrence and its not what vehicles are designed to do,” Applegate said.

The constable added later this type of incident isn't one that happens very often.

“We’d like to resolve this matter and hold accountable whoever was responsible.”
