All apprenticeship and technical training in Saskatchewan is cancelled for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the province’s Ministry of Advanced Education.

Premier Scott Moe announced alongside chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab, Saskatchewan has recorded its third death resulting from COVID-19. Moe also announced on April 1 the province will extend the state of emergency for two more weeks.

The provincial New Democrats are disappointed with the measures taken in regards to the province’s Social Services pandemic response plan.

Saskatchewan’s official opposition is calling on the government to close all childcare centres in the province immediately.

A third death has been announced as the province announces nine new confirmed COVID-19 cases. As of April 1, the total is 193. The person who died was in the 80 to 89 age range. The province is not saying where the death happened.
