EAST CENTRAL — Over the next six years, the provincial government will be adding new passing lanes and twinning portions of Highway 5 between Saskatoon and the intersection of Highway 2.

HUMBOLDT — With construction underway on the street in front of their fire hall, the Humboldt and District Fire Department is planning a temporary move to the Humboldt Curling Club.

Those attending Northwest Territorial Days this year will get a chance to dunk some local luminaries into the tank.

EAST CENTRAL — The province’s premier has announced a cabinet shuffle. Humboldt–Watrous MLA Donna Harpauer remains as finance minister, while Melfort MLA Todd Goudy has become the legislative secretary to the premier.

Free walk-in mental health counselling has been piloted in a number of communities in Saskatchewan and now the Battlefords are to become part of the model.

This weekend marks 50 years for a hallmark event of the summer at the Western Development Museum in North Battleford. The event is Those Were the Days, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17 and 18, at the museum between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

On August 8, the Canora RCMP executed a Search Warrant of a large indoor and outdoor marijuana grow operation, according to an RCMP release. The Search Warrant was executed at a rural property near the hamlet of Tadmore.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt ranks as one of the lowest communities on Statistics Canada’s Crime Severity Index within Saskatchewan. Out of the 16 Saskatchewan municipalities on the list, Humboldt ranked 13th in 2018, with a score of 57.93.

Submitted Royal University Hospital’s children’s emergency services are now operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Previously, dedicated pediatric services operated from 8 a.m. to midnight.
