LANIGAN — A few streets in southeast Lanigan will face a planned power outage on the afternoon of April 18. From 1 pm to 4 pm, power will go out for residents of the north part of Howard Crescent, Robertson Road and Clement Place.

EAST CENTRAL — While the Horizon School Division has received an extra $141,000 from the provincial budget to use as it sees fit, it needs around $1.3 million to pay for new expenses.

Volunteering is important to the Battlefords and area, and a recent Saskatchewan Health Authority event showed its appreciation. The Saskatchewan Health Authority hosted a volunteer appreciation event at Lawrence Hall in the Dekker Centre.

No, this was not “Talk with our kids about pizza.” This was actually called “Talk with our kids about money,” the national program where kids learn about financial literacy. This is the fifth year the program took place in schools in the Battlefords.

Unity RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a stolen truck and its thief. On April 16, the Unity/Wilkie/Macklin RCMP received a complaint of a theft of motor vehicle.

The North Battleford Part-time Firefighters Association has concluded their first sandbag fundraiser and they hope to make it an annual event. This year $1,500 was raised to donate to the community and they hope to do more for local causes.

A fire ban is now in place in the R.M. of North Battleford No. 437. According to the R.M., the fire ban took effect April 12 due to dry conditions in the area. No burning permits will be issued until further notice.

EAST CENTRAL — At about 1 pm on April 17 a power outage occurred in Tisdale, Melfort, Hudson Bay, Kinistino, St. Louis, St. Brieux, Star City, Tisdale, Weldon, Yellow Creek, Chelan and surrounding rural areas.

The North Saskatchewan River Municipal Health Holdings held their regular meeting on Monday, March 18. The CHAN (Community Health Advisory Network) was planning to hold a welcome tea for Dr. Bebnami and Dr. Latifand families on April 11.

Battleford town council approved a 10 per cent discount on remaining lots in Battle Springs on Monday. The discount will remain in place until Sept. 30. The economy, Mayor Ames Leslie said, is largely responsible for the discount.
