NIPAWIN — Wanting to have at least one rodeo that didn’t require a long drive, a high school rodeo mother decided to host a rodeo right in Nipawin.

With the calendars nearing the end of May and Canadians celebrating Victoria Day, the Government of Saskatchewan announced the official opening of provincial parks effective May 17.

CARROT RIVER — Scott Debienne is no longer the fire chief of the Carrot River Fire and Rescue. The decision to end his employment was announced by the town May 22 and confirmed by the town’s council at their meeting May 23.

Battlefords RCMP are reporting there was an armed robbery incident in the city early Wednesday morning. May 23 at 4:48 a.m., RCMP were responding to a complaint of an abandoned vehicle at 15th Avenue and 95th Street.

Members of Humboldt’s council travelled north to Nipawin and Tisdale with a message to those first responders that attended the Broncos bus collision: thank you.

Building permits are starting to pick up in North Battleford. Numbers are in for April and they show an increase in both permit numbers and permit values compared to the same month a year earlier.
