Battlefords RCMP responded to 41 calls for service during the period of Monday, March 27 to Tuesday, March 28, including the following: Monday, March 2 8:00 a.m. – Report of theft from a city residence by a house guest. 11:26 a.m.

Unity RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Unit North and the RCMP Emergency Response Team are on scene of a suspicious sudden death of an adult female in the RM of Buffalo approximately five kilometres northeast of Wilkie.

The Northeast’s three largest communities will have to look at raising taxes due to a reduction in provincial funding announced in the budget.

North Battleford has taken a big revenue hit in the wake of the provincial budget handed down last week. The City is one of many communities across Saskatchewan dealing with the loss of SaskPower and SaskEnergy grants-in-lieu to municipalities.

The Melfort Mustangs dropped their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League wild card playoff round three games to one to the Notre Dame Hounds, and with it came the end of their season.

A pellet gun shot at a Carrot River home broke windows. Carrot River RCMP are asking the public for any information. The firearm was shot at the home, located on Highway #23, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. March 24.

The Canadian Legion of Riders made a donation in January to the Battlefords Light Brigade No. 45 Christian Motorcycle Association’s “Run To the Sun” fundraiser. Several LOR members belong to the CMA and give much appreciated support.

Adult basic education and scholarships at Cumberland College will be affected by cuts announced in the provincial budget. The college will lose $127,300 off of its operating grant, a five per cent cut. It will lose $60,000 for adult basic education.
