The 13th annual 12-40 and Beyond tour takes place in the Blaine Lake, Hafford, Marcelin and Leask areas July 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.

Having returned from Australia only four months ago, 19-year-old Nikita Kahpeaysewat is now modelling in New Zealand. She left Canada July 10 and returns July 22. Originally from the Moosomn First Nation, Kahpeaysewat lives in North Battleford.

Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve recently Supported the filming of an episode of Striking Balance. They will be back in the spring to finish filming and interviews.

According to the City of North Battleford, work is progressing as scheduled on the 100th Street rehabilitation project. The work is affecting the main artery through the city from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue.

The Ministry of Environment, in consultation with the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, has lifted the ban on open fires that was put into effect for much of northern Saskatchewan on June 25.

There has been some rain, but more is needed as Saskatchewan Agriculture released its latest Crop Report for July 7-13. The weekend rain has helped with the moisture stress issues but the ag ministry notes more will be needed to help crops fill.

Efforts by the Downtown North Battleford BID to improve the safety of people downtown — and their feeling of safety — are now underway. New signs are up in the downtown core, all to promote safety to people visiting the businesses there.

The Battlefords Boys and Girls Club is saying goodbye to long-time Executive Director Sheri Woolridge. Woolridge started with the BBGC in April of 2010 and has served the organization for more than five years.
