Accidents, fatalities connected with bad weekend weather

There has been at least one fatality on area roads in the Northwest in recent days in the Maidstone area.

Thursday saw a fatal collision involving two vehicles on Highway 303, approximately 10 kilometres west of Highway 21 north, according to Maidstone detachment of the RCMP.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. Responding were Maidstone RCMP, Lloydminster RCMP, Maidstone Fire and Rescue and Maidstone Ambulance.

According to Maidstone RCMP, a semi truck/B train unit was westbound when it collided with an eastbound Dodge quad cab truck with a lone occupant.The driver of the semi was not injured, but the 35-year-old male driver of the Dodge, later identified as a resident of the RM of Wilton,was ejected andpronounced dead at the scene by Maidstone Ambulance.

The coroner was advised and was on scene as well, as were local towing companies.Maidstone Fire and Rescue assisted with the traffic control.

Weather conditions were described as cold with light, blowing snow with the road reported as being in good winter driving condition.

The next of kin has been notified, however the name of the deceased has not been released.
