Ag. Society hosts 5th summer show

The fifth Annual Turtleford Ag Society Summer Cattle Show was held Aug. 9 at the Turtleford Ag. Society Grounds. There were approximately 90 head of cattle entered in this one-day show.

The fifth Annual Turtleford Ag Society Summer Cattle Show was held Aug. 9 at the Turtleford Ag. Society Grounds.

There were approximately 90 head of cattle entered in this one-day show.

Judges for the day were Ted Creech from Lloydminster and David Weidauer from Iowa,

4-H Members competed in showmanship to begin the show.

Winners in the junior division were: Paige Lehmann - Lashburn 4-H Club; Devyn Richards - Lashburn 4-H Club; Clayton Harland - Paradise Hill 4-H Club; Drew Larre - St. Walburg 4-H Club

The winner in the senior division was: Bethany Harland of Paradise Hill 4-H Club.

Three entries competed in the 4-H heifer class. Grand champion heifer was shown by Paige Lehmann of the Lashburn 4-H Club, reserve heifer was shown by Devyn Richards of the Lashburn 4-H Club and third was Drew Larre from the St. Walburg 4-H Club.

In the 4-H cow calf class grand champion was Bethany Harland from the Paradise Hill 4-H Club.

At the end of the 4-H show each member received a $50 gift certificate from either the Turtleford Co-op or Paradise Hill Farm Supply.

The Black Diamond Acres Ltd. Pen of Three Commercial Bred Heifers had 13 entries. Winners were: champion pen - Dustin Ballantyne, Livelong; reserve pen - Little Willow Creek Ranch, Frenchman Butte; third - Brady Pollard, Hillmond; fourth - Little Willow Creek Ranch, Frenchman Butte

In the British two-year- old purebred cow with bull calf at side there was one entry. The grand champion winner was Macnab Angus, Mervin

In the European two-year-old purebred cow with bull calf at side there were two entries. Winners were: grand champion - Black Gold Simmental Ltd., Lloydminster; reserve - Four D Ranch Ltd., Glaslyn.

In the British mature purebred cow with bull calf at side there were 13 entries. Winners were: grand champion - Standard Hill Livestock, Maidstone; reserve - Grant Lodge Farms, Edam; third - Standard Hill Livestock; fourth - Standard Hill Livestock.

The final class of the day was the European mature purebred cow with bull calf at side with four entries. Winners were: grand Champion - Black Gold Simmental Ltd., Lloydminster; reserve - Hoegl Livestock, Lloydminster; third - Four D Ranch Ltd., Glaslyn; fourth - Hoegl Livestock, Lloydminster.

Diamond 7 Meats of Lloydminster donated and prepared the beef that was served at a noon dinner for all our competitors and sponsors.

The committee consisting of Randy Noble, Larry Macnab, Blaine Harland, Harry Lake, Darryl Roach, Jeff Jamieson and Keith LePoudre, appreciate the support of the competitors and sponsors for bringing such high quality cattle to the show again this year and would welcome any suggestions regarding improving the show for next year.

The Turtleford Co-op donated the use of their corral panels and supplied the coffee and doughnuts during the show.
