Ames Leslie is back for a second term as mayor of Battleford.
Nominations closed for the municipal election at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, and at the deadline Leslie was the lone candidate who had filed papers to run for mayor at Town Hall.
It means that there is no election for mayor in Battleford and Leslie is back by acclamation.
This will be the third time in four election cycles in Battleford that the mayors race is decided by acclamation. Chris Odishaw was acclaimed in 2009 and Derek Mahon in 2012.
There will still be an election for council in Battleford where 11 people have come forward for the six council seats available; there are also contested elections happening for mayor and council in North Battleford. Municipal Election Day is Nov. 9.
