WHITE FOX, CHOICELAND — An ATM was stolen from the White Fox branch of the Diamond North Credit Union, three nights after a similar theft was attempted at the credit union's Choiceland branch
The two ATMs will be closed temporarily.
Choiceland attempt
On Sept. 13, Nipawin RCMP responded to an alarm coming from the Diamond North Credit Union Choiceland. Police officers saw extensive damage to the exterior of the building and an abandoned vehicle on scene.
Initial investigation has determined the abandoned vehicle had been stolen from a neighbouring business. This vehicle was observed ramming into the side of the credit union in what appears to be an attempt to damage or steal the ATM inside the lobby.
A review of the surveillance footage shows that after the vehicle was used to cause the damage, a male suspect entered the lobby.
This male is described as wearing a light-coloured sweater with a small logo on the upper left chest area, dark pants and gloves. The suspect had his hood up and his face was partially covered.
Security footage shows the male making attempts to cause damage to the ATM but then fled on foot without obtaining anything from the ATM.
White Fox theft
On Sept. 16, RCMP dispatched to an alarm coming from the Diamond North Credit Union in White Fox. Members attended and noted extensive damage to the exterior and interior of the building and that the ATM had been removed from the lobby.
A review of the surveillance footage showed a white Dodge truck backing into the lobby of the building. The suspect then secured the ATM to the truck and forcefully removed it before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
The suspect was again wearing a light-coloured sweater with a small logo on the upper left chest area, dark pants and gloves. The suspect had his hood up and his face was partially covered. It was determined that the truck used in this particular incident had been stolen from a dealership located in Nipawin.
Extensive patrols were made but the suspect vehicle has not been located.
The stolen vehicle is described as a 2018 white Dodge Ram with Saskatchewan license plate 819 KXE.
Those with any information are asked to contact Nipawin RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
