Saskatchewan auctioneer Frederick Bodnarus of Bodnarus Auctioneering was awarded the 2012 Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) Auctioneer Champion title at CWA in Regina in November.

During a recent interview, Bodnarus explained the course of events leading up to the award presentation. Each participating auctioneer recorded and sent a two-minute YouTube audio clip to Canadian Western Agribition where the clips were reviewed by a panel of judges. The clips were unidentifiable meaning there was no evidence of who the participant was.

The five who were shortlisted were asked to attend CWA and sell livestock following the horse pull event in the CWA stadium. Bodnarus was named the CWA Auctioneer Champion and received a selection of hardware including a belt buckle.

Frederick Bodnarus always had the desire to be an auctioneer and in 2007 he established a company under the name Bodnarus Auctioneering.

Bodnarus has kept his auctioneering company on the leading edge of technology with credit card payment options and Internet bidding. In the new year, Bodnarus will be taking his auctioneering company to yet another level. Commencing in March, Bodnarus will be offering Livenet Auction every second Tuesday of the month.

"This is an ideal option for those that have only a few items to sell," explained Bodnarus. "The advantages include that the item does not have to leave its site until the sale is finalized and the seller does not have to deal with money transactions."
