Drink up, the water's fine.

As per Saskatchewan Environmental requirements, the Town of Battleford has released its annual notice to consumers concerning drinking water quality and compliance.

Battleford drinking water passed all tests with flying colours. Weekly tests for coliform and background bacteria, as well as chlorine tests were all passed, and the plant passed all submitted trihalomethanes tests.

Trihalomethanes are a byproduct of the water disinfection process.

Twice-daily tests for free chlorine residual for water entering the distribution system and turbidity were both passed. Concentrations of chemicals in the health category are also given, with all chemicals falling well below the maximum acceptable concentration levels.

The document also lists the results of tests that are not mandatory, including major ions concentrations.

For more information on water quality, the Battleford Utility Department can be reached at 937-6220 or works@battleford.ca. The document can also be found on the Public Notices section of the Town of Battleford's website at http://www.battleford.ca/pub_not.html.
