Building permits for 2020 are much better than they were to this point last year in North Battleford.
According to numbers released for June, 14 building permits have been issued that month for $4,766,000, up from six permits for $636,000 for the same month last year. Leading the way were two commercial permits for $2.7 million.
What’s more, permits for the year are also way up compared to 2019. Numbers through June have seen 52 permits issued for $10,107,378, compared to 47 permits for $1,838,700 to the same point last year.
The entire permit value for all of 2019 was $10,995,300, so North Battleford has almost reached that mark with half a year still to go.
Still, the 2020 numbers through June continue to lag behind 2018 numbers, which saw 58 permits issued for $14,597,350 for the same period.
Director of Corporate Services Jennifer Niesink reports “we’re doing very well for building permits this year,” and compared to last year “extremely well.”
She notes the city was lagging behind in business licenses by almost $25,000 compared to last year, but noted a number of businesses had not renewed their licenses yet. She expects that gap to close considerably after business license renewal reminders are sent in August.
