CARROT RIVER — Carrot River council has decided to push back plans for the construction of a new sewer lift station and subdivision.

“The town council has been over three and a half years now looking at a new subdivision and a sewage lift station,” said Kevin Trew, Carrot River’s administrator. “We actually tendered it out recently and council reviewed the tenders and have decided they would table building a subdivision or sewage lift station until further notice.”

The tenders for the sewage lift station were $1.5 million, approximately 40 per cent higher than what the town budgeted. However, the tenders for the new subdivision matched what was budgeted.

These are planned to be tabled until the new water treatment plant is built.

“It will be revisited after,” Trew said. “Really the capacity for a small community, not just financially, but us as a staff to have three large projects going on.”
