The City of North Battleford is changing all city water meters to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) water meters, and on Monday they got an idea on how that process will unfold.
The city had agreed in June to enter a contract with KTI Limited/Sensus Canada to change over the meters. On Monday, Director of City Operations Stewart Schafer explained how they will proceed with changing the meters and notifying residents.
The plan, said Schafer, is to give residents six weeks notice on the day they are going in to change it, and methods they will use including contacting residents, leaving notices on door knockers and so on.
The notices are from KTI Limited/Sensus Canada asking that the property owners/tenants contact their representatives to arrange a date and time for the changeover to occur. The times available would be anywhere from Monday through Saturdays between 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. for their representatives to come to the building and change the water meter.
The intention is to make it as flexible as they can so people can get their water meters changed. If people are going on holidays, those residents are urged to contact City Hall so they can plan around that.
According to the city’s memo on the changeover, it is estimated the property water meter changeover will not start until mid-November and continue into 2021. There will be lots of advertising in advance of that changeover.
