North Battleford’s water and sewer rates for 2018 are now set, with passage of bylaw amendments at city council Monday.

The bylaws were introduced and passed Monday, said Mayor Ryan Bater, in order for administration “could get to work to get utility billing out in January, here at the beginning of the year.”

The bylaws incorporate the 4.5 percent increases in base water and sewer rates and also consumption rates for 2018. Those were adopted by council Dec. 11 when they considered the 2018 budget.

The rest of the budget has not yet been adopted yet, however, as council sought further information on third-party grants.

Mayor Bater indicated that it is likely to come up for consideration again at the next council meeting on Jan. 22. That will deal with the rest of the operations of the city, Bater said.

There was one other, unrelated bylaw that was also passed Monday in three readings, and that dealt with amendments to The Cemeteries Bylaw.
