Battlefords City Detachment of the RCMP continues to report reduced calls for service in North Battleford for the month of August.
Calls for service stood at 1,033 for the month, down from 1,585 the previous August. For the year so far, there have been 8,534 calls for service, down from 10,391 for the same period in 2013 - roughly a 15 per cent decline.
Year-to-year figures in the crime categories in August show declines for the most part, however, there was a spike in the residential break and enter category.
There were 14 incidents recorded in that category in August, compared to a year earlier. For the year to date, however, residential break and enters are down to 79 from 85 a year before.
Liquor act offences were also up in August from 24 to 55, and are up for the year from 180 to 316.
Other categories, however, continue to see reductions for the month and for the year.
Numbers for the year ending Aug. 31 have person offences down 25 per cent (from 586 to 441), business break and enters down 33 per cent (from 36 to 24), property offences down 24 per cent (from 1,985 to 1,510), criminal code offences down three per cent (from 1,187 to 1,148), drug offences down 54 per cent (from 202 to 92), motor vehicle collisions down 29 per cent (from 203 to 145), provincial traffic offences down 44 per cent (from 1,880 to 1,046), impaired driving of a motor vehicle down 13 per cent (from 212 to 185) and municipal bylaws down 11 per cent (from 136 to 121).
In enforcement activity, the month of August saw an increased visibility by police on foot in the city. A total of 31 foot patrols were recorded the month, substantially up from 12 the month before.
The monthly report, from Insp. John Sutherland, was presented at city council's monthly municipal services meeting.
