CTV Home Town Tour was in Borden Sept. 24, with Rob MacDonald and Chantel Huber and crew arriving at noon to watch and to taste the borscht being made for threshing day.

Stew Walton with Buck and Cindy pulling the people hauler, showed the crew a few sites around Borden before stopping at the Art and Eatery for lunch where Borden's "Elvis" entertained.

The fire truck picked up MacDonald and Huber for a drive around Borden and out to the threshing site where Huber drove the 1927 Case tractor. She also had a try at driving the fire truck and Fire Chief Terry Tkazcyk presented them with firemen t-shirts and framed certificates declaring them honourary firefighters for Borden.

Back in town they took in bowling at Action Bowl where they were presented with medallions.

At the farmers' market MacDonald and Huber were given some pies and other goodies.

Jeff Rogstad arrived around 4 p.m. to get his pie and toys for his cats at the market, then the crew went to their bus to edit what had been going on and get ready for the live broadcast at 6 p.m.

The firemen served hot dogs and beverages supplied free by the village all afternoon by the community centre. At 6 p.m., on the street between the hall and the museum, the news was broadcast, interspersed with interviews featuring Mayor David Buckingham, oldest resident John Newbold, who still farms at 96, tour guide June Nichol and the pie lady, Helen Sutherland.

Jeff gave the weather, the crowd gathered waving balloons and yelling on cue, then after 6:30 p.m. everyone gathered in front of the bus for a photo shoot.

A draw was made for a Rider jersey and the winner was Nicole Tracksell of Borden.
