Kindersley RCMP are currently investigating multiple suspected dangerous drug-related incidents in the Kindersley area.
According to a press release, within the last month, Kindersley RCMP attended several calls for service where suspected drug overdoses, resulting in death, have occurred. The RCMP is warning the public about the possible presence of highly dangerous drugs in the area.
Fentanyl pills (counterfeit Oxycontin) have been linked to several deaths in Western Canada.
In the past, counterfeit Oxycontin have been green with specific markings on them, however they may now be available in any colour tablet, according to police.
The press release states, “the only safe medication to take is one prescribed by your physician and purchased from a pharmacy. There is no way to ever guarantee the safety of drugs that are purchased illegally.”
The RCMP add there are consequences of illegal drug use and abuse. Anyone who knows of someone who is suffering is urged to contact the nearest health services addictions programming, a family doctor, or the nearest RCMP detachment.
