Edmonton male declared deceased in vehicle collision west of Lashburn

Around noon on Tuesday, Dec. 19, the RCMP released information regarding a two-vehicle collision that occured the evening of Dec. 18 on Highway 16 west of Lashburn.

Around noon on Tuesday, Dec. 19, the RCMP released information regarding a two-vehicle collision that occured the evening of Dec. 18 on Highway 16 west of Lashburn.

On Monday evening, Maidstone RCMP and emergency services, including Lashburn Fire and Rescue, responded to a collision involving a sedan and a gravel truck. Both vehicles were west bound. Highway 16, four miles west of Lashburn, was blocked and drivers had to detour.

The 30-year-old male driver from Edmonton, the lone occupant of the sedan, was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was treated by local EMS and was released.

The investigation, with assistance from the Coroner's office and an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist, is ongoing. 

The closed section of Highway 16 was opened earlier this morning.

The RCMP have yet to release names of those involved.
