On Sept. 28, just after midnight, the La Ronge RCMP were called to a fatal collision between a pedestrian and a taxi cab on Highway 2 near the bingo hall in La Ronge.
Upon arrival, an adult male was located by RCMP officers and EMS in the southbound lane of Highway 2 with life-threatening injuries. EMS transported the 24-year-old male to hospital where he was declared deceased.
A taxi had been driving southbound and struck the male who was walking on the Highway. The road was restricted for several hours while members conducted the investigation with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and a RCMP Forensic Reconstructionist.
The investigation is still ongoing.
