Gas thief flees on foot

North Battleford RCMP responded to more than 70 calls for service over the weekend.

Between 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30 and 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, there were 10 arrests for alcohol related offences, and police responded to four bylaw complaints, three child welfare investigations, six disturbance calls, two minor collisions, 10 traffic investigations completed, four Mental Health Act investigations and four people reported missing, all of whom have been located.

Friday

• 17-year-old youth arrested and charged with breaching probation, found in violation of no alcohol condition during a vehicle stop on 100th Street at 11:30 a.m. Held in custody until first appearance Monday.

Saturday

• Call of a man causing a disturbance at a bar shortly after midnight. Accused was initially reported to be belligerent and refusing to leave the bar. Subject was gone when members arrived, further investigation revealed he assaulted two people at the scene, one by pushing them down and the other by throwing a rock and hitting them in the hand. The suspect's identity is known and charges are currently pending. Investigation is ongoing.

• Vehicle parked on the 1400 block of 108th Street had windshield damage sometime between 10 p.m. previous evening and 1 a.m. 

• Man attended detachment at 2:23 a.m. reporting he was assaulted at a residence on 110th Street and required medical attention. Subject later became belligerent with hospital staff and refused to co-operate with investigation. Arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober.

• Report of theft of gasoline. Suspect attended a gas station on Highway 16 Bypass at 11 a.m., filled a jerry can full of gas and fled on foot.

• Vehicle reported stolen shortly after 5 p.m. Suspect known to complainant, took vehicle and was refusing to return it. Vehicle has since been recovered, no charges have yet been pursued and investigation is ongoing.

Sunday

• 22-year-old male arrested and charged with one court of assault after a call to a residence on St. Laurent Drive shortly before 5 a.m. Victim reported an argument which led to victim being choked and having their hair pulled. Victim did not require any medical treatment. Accused has since been released from custody on several conditions including no contact with the victim and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. Wednesday.

• Report of a hit and run on Railway Avenue East at 9 a.m., suspect vehicle described as a black truck, backed into a red pickup and drove away without stopping.

• A vehicle parked on the 900 block of 109th Street overnight was entered, wallet reported taken.
