To celebrate their 22nd anniversary last week, the Humboldt Good Neighbour Store sold all of their merchandise for half price while offering free coffee and donuts to customers.
"It's been busy. We just want to give our customers a good deal and celebrate," said Susan Young, coordinator for the store, during last week's sale. "We get good customers here compared to most stores. If I need help lifting or moving something, they're happy to help."
While the deal from last week may have been an anniversary celebration, all of the proceeds still go back into the community as they always do. Customers who help the workers at the store are essentially lending a hand to other volunteers since nobody is paid for their work.
"We're all here and working together for the same goal-what's best for the store," said Sylvia Koski, chairperson on the store's board of directors. "I hope customers are satisfied. They all sees appreciative and walk away with a smile. It's nice to give them a bonus."
According to Koski, last week was a chance to not just say thank you to the volunteers and customers of Humboldt and area, but also to make people aware of how long they've been there.
