Hearing set for woman accused of killing Jeremy Starblanket

Loretta Sakebow was arrested in July 2021 and charged with second-degree murder in Jeremy Starblanket's death

PRINCE ALBERT – A preliminary hearing for a 31-year-old woman accused of killing Jeremy Starblanket of Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation has been set.

The hearing on Nov. 2 in Prince Albert court will determine if there is enough evidence for Loretta Sakebow to stand trial on a charge of second-degree murder.

Prince Albert Police found Starblanket’s body at the scene of a house fire in March 2021. Prince Albert Fire Department said an explosion at the house blew the building off its foundation.

Sakebow was arrested four months later. The charge against her hasn’t been tested in court.
