EAST CENTRAL — Heat warning from Environment Canada continue for the entire region today.

Environment Canada said temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected around the Humboldt area, while humidex values reaching 34 are expected around Tisdale, Melfort and Nipawin.

North of Highway 16, temperatures are expected to moderate this evening.

"Extreme heat affects everyone," Environment Canada said. "The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors."

Effects of heat illness include swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
