Humboldt ladies become divas for a day on the golf course

It was a day made for the ladies but it was also a day to give back to the Humboldt Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Humboldt Kinettes.

Humboldt Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Development Coordinator, Stacey Poss, thanks the crowd for their overwhelming support of the Diva for a Day golf tournament on Jun. 4 at the Humboldt Golf Club. Funds raised from the day of fun and sun for Humboldt ladies will be split between Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Humboldt Kinettes so they can continue providing their services to Humboldt and area.

It was a day made for the ladies but it was also a day to give back to the Humboldt Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Humboldt Kinettes.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Diva for a Day brought ladies out for fun, sun, prizes, and a little bit of best ball golf in support of the many programs and services brought to Humboldt by the Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Kinettes.

Big Brothers Big Sisters caseworker, Amy Hogemann, says the was “super successful” and everyone had a great time.

“All the ladies had a really good time. The caddies were amazing, the sponsors were amazing, the vendors were amazing.”

MaxTV through Sasktel were also out to enjoy the day and shot some video for a documentary they are doing on the day.

Some vendors and sponsors have already said they will be attending next year’s Diva for a Day event with Community Development Coordinator, Stacey Poss, says she is already looking forward to.

Humboldt Kinettes, Carol Pratt, laughs that she knows her own team had a great time golfing and she knows the numerous Kinette volunteers also had a great time pitching in as ticket sellers, dishwashers, and gophers for the vendors.

Poss says they could not have had such a successful day without help from the Kinettes and all the sponsors.

“It was great to see a lot of people out this year and it was fun to have vendors out on the course,” says Pratt.

Boston Pizza representatives spent the day on hole 10 keeping their eyes open for the closest drive to the pin.

Hogemann spent the day on hole 12 to find out who could drive a marshmallow the farthest.

A Curves representative lead ladies in stretches a short Zumba workout before they played through on hole 14.

Sixth Avenue Stylists were on hole 15 to offer a little refreshment to the ladies before they played through before visiting a Juice Plus representative to talk about the benefits of Juice Plus supplements on hole 16.

Pure Romance set up their shop on hole 18.

Hogemann says it was not about coming out and shooting your best golf game but coming out to have a fun day.

And teams got some extra fun in the morning with the caddie auction before going out on the holes.

Seven caddies volunteered to be bid on by the 14 teams raising another $2,015 dollars towards the great cause.

“It’s always a little bit uncomfortable for them so we really appreciate that and I think the caddies, in the end, always have fun so we’re looking for more caddies and more vendors last year.”

Meals were also provided for all the teams with Johnny’s Bistro serving breakfast, Co-op and Modern Meats providing all the fixings for a bagged lunch the ladies could take with them, and Boston Pizza serving up supper when all the golfing was done.

Funds raised from the event will be evenly split between the Humboldt Kinettes and Humboldt  Big Brothers Big Sisters and will be at the same time and weekend in 2017.
