A man accused of sexual assault and sexual interference with minors, among other charges, remains in custody until a scheduled show cause hearing Sept. 29.

David Smith appeared by video link from Saskatoon in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday.

This was Smith's fifth appearance on this matter, with proceedings delayed while issues in lining up counsel for him were worked out.

Those issues are now settled, and the latest adjournment is primarily to allow his new lawyer to review the disclosure and have further discussions.

It is expected Smith will appear in person Sept. 29, which could also see pleas entered in the case.
