It was a grim weekend on the roads in the Battlefords area with two separate crashes Saturday, including one fatal rollover.

According to WPD Ambulance a fatal single-vehicle rollover took place at 11:40 a.m. June 5. On arrival, paramedics found a 61-year-old Manitoba man deceased.

According to the RCMP, the incident happened on the Whitkow Mayfair grid about 13 kilometers east of Highway 4 north of the Battlefords.

On the scene were WPD, the RCMP and North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services with three fire personnel.

The vehicle suffered extensive damage. No extrication was required. The RCMP say the name of the victim is not being released at this time pending family notification.

Another collision took place at 7:24 a.m. that same day at the intersection of Highways 40 and 16.

The collision involved a semi tanker truck and a small passenger vehicle. A 28-year-old male patient was transported to Battlefords Union Hospital and then to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon in serious condition.

WPD Ambulance personnel are urging people to slow down on the roads and take their time to make sure to "arrive alive."
