The North Battleford RCMP police dog service members were on the way to Pelican Narrows Sunday to assist in the search for a missing child when the child was located.

Pelican Narrows RCMP say a two-year-old child was reported missing at about 1 p.m. Sunday, after last being seen at 3 p.m. Saturday.

All members of the detachment searched the residence and area in the vicinity of where the child was last seen. The child was located by two men, 17 and 24, at about 2:45 p.m. They had walked into the bush to begin searching for the missing boy.

The child was located in the bush sitting approximately one kilometer behind Opawikoscikan School in an area referred to as the ski hill. The child was found wearing only a T-shirt.

Police say the child was transported to the Angelique Health Centre in Pelican Narrows where he was treated for minor cuts and bug bites, but was otherwise said to be in good health. The temperature overnight in Pelican Narrows Saturday was about 19 C.

Pelican Narrows RCMP express appreciation to the community for their assistance in locating the child. The child is in the care of the Ministry of Social Services, police say.
