After 35 years of serving children in the Battlefords the Battleford Boys and Girls Club realized they needed a new building.

Their commitments to the community have been growing over the years and the organization is stronger now than it has ever been. They want to keep the quality of their programs and hope more opportunities will be gained with a new building.

June 23 plans for that building were unveiled. As part of the planning process, photocopies of the artist's drawing were made and members of the club were invited to colour it to show how they think the building should look.

Visits to the Boys and Girls Club have increased by 2,100 over the past two years and their current building is getting too small. The new building will be 8,000 square feet including a basement and will also be fully wheelchair accessible. With more space they can provide targeted programs, music programs, crime prevention programs and improve all existing programs.

They are asking the community to help them raise money for the project. The campaign will extend to the spring of 2012,when they hope to have enough money to start building. They are trying to raise approximately $1,000,000 in order to build the building.
