NIPAWIN — The Nipawin RCMP are making preparations for the coming year.
Josh Martin with the Nipawin RCMP gave his report to council during the Sept. 28 meeting. With the coming of the new school year, Martin said the detachment will be starting to focus on school zone safety and working to get messages out in the schools.
The detachment will see a large turnover in the fall but all positions have already been filled with experienced members from the north, Martin said.
With the news of a second COVID-19 wave hitting Quebec and Ontario, Martin said the detachment will remain vigilant with the COVID precautions, but the staff are in need of some much needed time off.
Difficult cases in Tobin Lake, Candle Lake, Red Earth Cree Nation and Melfort have made for a busy summer for the detachment as officers help out their neighbouring communities during these difficult times, Martin said.
