A North Battleford-area man is dead following a fatal collision north of Lloydminster. Members of the Maidstone detachment on August 15 around 10:30am attended to the scene on highway 17, about ten miles north of Lloydminster.

Members of the Maidstone detachment on August 15 around 10:30am attended to the scene on highway 17, about ten miles north of Lloydminster.

The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 32-year-old male from North Battleford area, was southbound in a truck pulling a boat. According to the RCMP the man was killed when his vehicle struck a stationary vehicle that had been the lead vehicle involved in the movement of a house north on highway 17.

According to police, the vehicle struckhad been leading the house along the highway.Traffic heading south on highway 17 had been stopped by the pilot vehicle to allow traffic that had built up behind the moving house topass and proceed north.Thtee other southbound vehicles had been stopped by the pilot when the truck pulled past the stopped vehicles and struck the pilot vehicle without hitting the brakes, killing the driver of the truck.

Road and weather conditions at the time were good. The deceased man had been wearing a seatbelt at the time.

A RCMP reconstructionist was on scene much of Monday taking measurements and photos. Police say the investigation is ongoing. The name of the deceased has not been released.
