A driver has been fined $834 and their vehicle impounded after being clocked in at 194 km/h on Highway 12 between Martensville and Saskatoon just after midnight Saturday.

RCMP Saskatoon Traffic Services say the vehicle was stopped after a brief pursuit. RCMP determined the driver of the vehicle was taking their passenger to the hospital. Officers say, given the nature of the medical emergency, the rate of speed was unwarranted.

The driver now has to answer to the Saskatchewan Highway Traffic Board as to what the rush was and find out how long the vehicle will stay impounded.
