North West Regional College staff and board members gathered from communities throughout the Northwest to attend the college's annual staff awards banquet.

With more than 100 staff providing training in nearly 25 communities throughout the region, the college hosts a celebration to honour long serving employees and to recognize staff who participate in its Focus on Fitness program.

Arlene Sanderson and Joanne Tatchell-Cote were presented certificates in recognition of five years service with the college. For 10 years, Joyce Henderson, Donna King, Shelley Platten, and Roxanne Zimmer were each presented certificates and sterling silver college pins.

North West Regional College bookends and certificates were presented to Cheri Lynch and Marney Robinson in celebration of 15 years of service. Having reached the amazing milestone of 35 years with the college, long time employee Wanda Weber received a diamond and sapphire ring.

Two retirements were celebrated; Marilyn Wright, having worked with the college for over 26 years received a diamond necklace, and retiring after 22 years, Ev Kardynal received a lap top computer. Melanie Bossaer, having recently resigned after 19 years, received a plaque of recognition, as did John Davis and Carolyn Kopp after six and seven years respectively.

North West Regional College's Focus on Fitness program is designed to promote and encourage participation in physical and mental wellness activity for all staff. Besides the natural personal benefits gained by participating in a fitness program, staff earn rewards, awards, and prizes.

Nominated by her peers, Karen Kjargaard-Rawlyk received the Award of Excellence for Fitness, and Lindsay Lovas received the Award of Excellence for Promotion.

The Award of Excellence for Participation, presented to the staff member who has accumulated the most points over the year, was earned by Carolyn Monette.

The College also sponsors two major professional development draws for Focus on Fitness participants. These prizes were won by Shelley Platten and Lindsay Lovas
