Update: On Friday, Dec. 22, at approximately 5:15 a.m., North Battleford Provincial and Municipal General Investigation Sections, along with an Emergency Response Team, consisting of members of the RCMP and Saskatoon Police Service, Meadow Lake Police Dog Services and Battlefords RCMP executed a search warrant on the 1000 block of 109th Street in North Battleford. Six people were arrested in the residence, and a quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine, along with other evidence associated to the trafficking of a controlled substance were seized. Several firearms and other weapons were also seized.
The police operation that was ongoing in this area is now concluded.
The investigation is continuing. No charges have been laid at this time. Further information will be provided when it becomes available.
Background: At 5:21 a.m., Battlefords RCMP issued an advisor saying there was currently a police operation involving specialized support teams in the 1000 block of 109th Street in North Battleford.
"There is no danger to the public, however the public is requested to stay out of the area and remain indoors if they live in the area. Residents may hear loud noises and observe armed police officers in the area. Police will advise when the operation is over," stated the advisory.
