The former North Battleford city manager has received a prestigious national honour.
Jim Toye, city manager in North Battleford for 13 years before taking on the same position in Prince Albert this year, has received an Honorary Membership for Life Award from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators.
The honour is in recognition for his contribution to excellence in local government management. Toye received the award at CAMA's recent national conference in Niagara Falls, Ont.
Toye's career includes 28 years in municipal government management, with over 25 of those serving as a chief administrative officer with various communities.
In addition to North Battleford and Prince Albert, Toye has also served in management positions in Kindersley, Leader and Unity.
He is also past president of CAMA from 2011-12 and has been on CAMA's board of directors since 2006, as representative for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Toye was also an active member of the Urban Municipal Administrators' Association of Saskatchewan from 1996 to 2006, including a stint as president, and has been active in various charitable and community causes.
"CAMA is pleased to celebrate the career of Jim Toye with our honorary life member award," said Jean Savard, president of CAMA in a statement. "His leadership role in various municipalities throughout Saskatchewan and his involvement with both provincial and national municipal associations is to be commended."
"I am very honoured and humbled to be recognized with this prestigious award," said Toye.
"I have been very fortunate to work with great employees and supportive mayors and councils during my career. The profession of local government administration is dear to my heart and I feel very fortunate to have led provincial and national associations in this field. During my tenure in these roles, I have met many peers who have become lifelong friends and I truly value these relationships both personally and professionally."
