Story The City of North Battleford is once again going to be recycling Christmas trees into chips for mulch.

The mulch is used for tree and shrub beds, and helps improve growth by retaining moisture and suppressing weed growth.

The City of North Battleford says they no longer conduct back alley Christmas tree pickup due to a decrease in the number of residents using real Christmas trees. However there are two drop off locations: at City of North Battleford Parks and Recreation Shop at 11202 8th Avenue or at City of North Battleford Waste Management Facility, anytime during regular business hours for both.

The City is promoting the recycling of Christmas trees as a way to be eco-conscious. They urge people to make sure that lights, string, wire, ornaments, tinsel, fake snow and bags are removed before recycling the trees, as they can damage City equipment and can degrade the usefulness of the mulch if it is mixed in with it.

The Town of Battleford has a tree recycling depot near the communal recycling bins next to Alex Dillabough Centre.
