The City of Humboldt hosted their Spring City Wide Registration event at the Humboldt Uniplex on Mar. 10 with organizations from a number of different walks of life attending including sports and programs for youth and adults. Carlton Trail College also attended the evening to give information about their classes and programs as well.

Recreation Program Coordinator, Michelle Stevenson, said that the spring event is usually less attended then their fall event and the trends kept up this year. She was still very pleased with the attendance estimating between 600-700 people came through the doors that night.

Stevenson said she has noticed more organizations moving to online registrations that cut into both the number of organizations and residents attending but said she finds people still like to come in and just look around to see what options are available as well as getting an opportunity to have a face to face conversation to go over any questions residents might have for the organizations or programs.

Having the bi-annually event has become a part of the city, says Stevenson.

“It’s been going on for quite a while so I think it’s just something the residents have come to expect and they schedule for and they know that it’s happening the first little bit in March and it’s good for everybody.”

While Stevenson says she had not gotten any immediate feedback from the organizations, she says she feels they still like having the opportunity to come out for the event.

Despite the fact that the event was mostly about gathering and giving information and signing up for programs, Stevenson noted that Calico Gymnastics Club did more by bringing in some of their crash mats and putting on a small demonstration for passersby throughout the evening.

The City of Humboldt usually host their Fall City Wide Registration night around the beginning of September.
