Some major Underground Pipes and Asphalt Replacement work began Tuesday last week on 100th Street downtown. For that week, there was also disruption to 11th Avenue, and traffic on Highway 4 from Battleford was  rerouted at the bottom of the hill.

The overall UPAR work is planned for the 1100 block of 100th Street; there will also be work done on 12th Avenue between 99th and 100th Street.

The underground utility work is planned to take approximately three weeks, with roadway reconstruction work to follow. The 1100 block of 100th Street will be closed to traffic but pedestrian access to businesses will remain open from the back alley.

Roadway reconstruction is expected to be completed by Sept. 13.

Water service disruptions are expected on the 1100 block of 100th St. while the underground pipe work proceeds. Businesses will be notified prior to service disruptions and affected addresses will be on a drinking water advisory. Downtown businesses will remain open with alternate access in place.

Visitors to downtown businesses are encouraged to plan their trips ahead and to leave a little extra time to find parking. Motorists using 100th St. and Railway Avenue as a route through the city are encouraged to use Territorial Drive as an alternate route to get around the city and to avoid traffic congestion downtown while the work is underway.

Underground work will be performed by Unicon Pipeline, and roadways by K&S Asphalt.
