RM OF TISDALE — The Rural Municipality of Tisdale is having difficulty finding volunteers to form a Rural Crime Watch.

The RM put out the news in July in a newsletter and on their website but since then has had only one resident step forward and contact the RM.

“Other than that we didn’t have any interest,” said Fern Lucas, the RM’s administrator. “I know when the RCMP had their local meeting here there was some interest but when I contacted those people they were interested but they wouldn’t want anything to do with being on a committee or forming anything, so that’s where it’s at.”

Responsibilities of the volunteer would include forming a committee.

“They would, if there’s enough interest then kind of a committee would be formed and there would be contacts for kind of keeping eyes open for neighbors and whatnot. Contacts for that.”

The RM encourages anybody who might be interested to contact them at 306-873-2334.

“If we don’t have people interested it won’t be happening,” Lucas said. “It does seem unfortunate because it seems yes people want this, it would be a good thing, but only if someone else does it.”
